Terms of Service

Effective date: March 1, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Canine, including the hosted platform at canine.sh and any related services (collectively, the "Service"), operated by the Canine open source project ("Canine", "we", "us", or "our"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

Canine provides a developer-focused platform for deploying and managing applications on Kubernetes clusters. The Service includes a web interface, a command-line interface (CLI), background job processing, integrations with third-party services such as GitHub, GitLab, and Bitbucket, and infrastructure management tooling. Canine is also available as open source software under the Apache License 2.0; these Terms apply to the hosted Service, not to self-hosted installations.

2. Accounts

To use most features of the Service, you must register for an account. You agree to provide accurate, complete, and current information during registration and to keep your account credentials confidential. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. If you believe your account has been compromised, notify us immediately at support@canine.sh.

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. Accounts registered on behalf of an organization may be used only by authorized representatives of that organization.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these restrictions, with or without prior notice.

4. Your Content and Data

You retain ownership of all code, configuration, environment variables, and other data you provide to the Service ("Your Content"). By using the Service, you grant Canine a limited license to store, process, and transmit Your Content solely as necessary to operate and provide the Service. We do not claim any rights to Your Content beyond what is required to run the platform on your behalf.

You are solely responsible for ensuring Your Content does not violate any applicable laws or third-party rights. You are also responsible for the security and access controls of any Kubernetes clusters you connect to the Service.

5. Kubernetes Clusters and Infrastructure

The Service allows you to connect your own Kubernetes clusters via kubeconfig credentials. You acknowledge that Canine will interact with your cluster infrastructure on your behalf and that you are responsible for the security, cost, and configuration of any cloud infrastructure you own or operate. Canine is not liable for infrastructure costs, data loss, or service disruption resulting from actions taken on clusters you have connected to the Service.

6. Third-Party Integrations

The Service integrates with third-party platforms including GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, Docker registries, DNS providers, and others. Your use of those integrations is subject to the respective terms of those providers. Canine is not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or conduct of third-party services.

7. Open Source Software

The Canine platform is released as open source software under the Apache License 2.0. These Terms govern use of the hosted Service at canine.sh. Self-hosted deployments of Canine are governed solely by the Apache License 2.0 and are not subject to these Terms.

8. Intellectual Property

Except for Your Content and the open source components of the Service, all materials, trademarks, and other intellectual property associated with Canine and the Service remain the property of the Canine project. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use Canine's trademarks, logos, or branding without prior written consent.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE CANINE PROJECT AND ITS CONTRIBUTORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Canine project and its contributors from any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses arising from your use of the Service, Your Content, or your violation of these Terms.

12. Termination

You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us or through the account settings in the Service. Canine may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time for violation of these Terms or for any other reason with reasonable notice, except where immediate termination is necessary to protect the Service or other users. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. We may retain certain data as required by law or for legitimate business purposes.

13. Disputes

We encourage resolution of any disputes through good faith communication. If you have a concern, please reach out to us at support@canine.sh before pursuing any formal action.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page and, for material changes, notify registered users by email or through the Service. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
